Investigators and Panelists

The Graduate Honor System operates with the help of graduate student and faculty volunteers who serve as investigators and panelists to process cases that are referred to the Graduate Honor System.

Investigators

GHS investigators are appointed by the Graduate Honor System Advisor, in consultation with the Chief Justice. In order to be considered for the Investigator position, students must be enrolled in a degree program in good standing and must have been in residence for at least one (1) semester immediately preceding appointment. Preferably candidates will have served as panelists for GHS hearings prior to becoming an Investigator. Investigators remain neutral throughout the process in their effort to collect and organize evidence and information from all involved parties and assure due process in all proceedings.

Investigators fulfill the following duties:

  • Assist the Chief Justice with dissemination of information about the Graduate Honor System, and with the convening and conducting of training sessions.
  • Gather evidence and conduct interviews with the referrer and accused student(s).
  • Prepare a report summarizing the evidence of the case for review by the Investigative Board.
  • Conduct the Investigative Board meeting and inform the Chief Justice of the outcome of the hearing.
  • Present the evidence to the Judicial Panel.

If you are interested in becoming an investigator, contact the Chief Justice.
