Grading an Accused Student
The Faculty Handbook (subsection 4.6.6) states that faculty cannot adjust a student's grade due to a suspected violation of the Honor Code. The GHS has the sole responsibility to investigate suspected violations of the Honor Code, as well as to impose any penalty for convicted students.
When a faculty member has referred a student to the GHS, there are two options for grading the assignment in question. If the faculty member can (in good conscience) grade the work assuming that no violation occurred, then he or she is free to do so. Otherwise, he or she may give the student an incomplete grade for the course.
If the student is found guilty of the violation, a grade of "0" will be given for the particular assignment. The GHS has the authority to change the course grade if the accused student(s) is found guilty. This includes lowering an existing grade or changing an incomplete to a letter grade.
If you have questions about a specific grading instance, please contact the GHS advisor.
